School Skating Trip

Yesterday at school, we went on a field trip to the Tom Graham skating arena. The time we were allowed to skate for was two hours. We entered the school at the normal time and then at around 9:20 we started walking to Richmond Green where the rink was.

When we got there I put on my skates and helmet then proceeded to help one of my friends put his helmet on since he was having trouble. When we got on the ice at 10:15 I just skated around with my friends. After a while, my ankle got a bit sore so I took my skates off and put them back on. I didn’t tie my skates very tight after, but it was close to the end of the trip so I just dealt with it. When we all finished skating I put my stuff on my bag and then met up with my friends near the front so we could leave.

Overall I think the trip was okay. There were a lot of people there so it was kind of hard not to hit people that are skating in the other direction as you even if you are skating in the direction that the majority of people are skating in. If we went on this trip again on my own time I probably wouldn’t go, but if it was for a school trip then I would go since I can talk with my friends.

Dr. Strange Movie

Last night on March 2 Jason, Mommy, and I watched the new Dr. Strange movie at home.

Since Daddy wasn’t eating dinner with us, we decided to order pizza from Pizza Hut. We ordered a Meat Lovers pizza, a Hawaiian pizza, Jason made his own custom pizza, and we also ordered eight boneless wings.

The pizza arrived at around 6:10 PM and then Mommy gave us the idea to watch the Dr. Strange movie while eating. The pizza was good and so were the wings. The movie was alright but was hard to understand with all the different things going on at once and there were also a lot of characters.

I wouldn’t watch the movie again in my spare time but I would eat the pizza in my spare time if I could.

Ajax Day Trip

Last weekend my family and I went to Ajax the day before Family Day. The first thing we did at Ajax when we got there was to go to this waterfront where we played some Pokémon Go while walking. I didn’t play too much Pokémon Go. Along the way, to the end of the trail we found a dead bird. We also took a few pictures by the waterfront and when we got to the end of the trail we turned back around to go to the parking lot where we parked the car.

After walking the trail, we went to this restaurant where we ate poutine, onion rings, pizza, and some pasta. We stayed there for a while and then went to a nearby flea market. The flea market had a lot of shops that sold the same things like knives. My dad found an audio department there and got some audio cables for some new speakers that he got.

After we got back I played some video games with my friend. Overall the Ajax trip was cool, but the best part of the trip was probably the restaurant.

School Valentines Dance

This week we had a Valentines Day dance at my school. The dance was held in the gym and we had to pay to go because it was a fundraiser where all the money collected went towards the Grade 8’s graduation.

The actual dance wasn’t very exciting however since the dancing was just people jumping around and the music was way too loud to hear anything else. After a while, the music got really annoying and I just went to the back of the gym and talked with a few of my friends.

Later, everyone made a big circle where people could take turns dancing in the middle, so I just watched some people dance. After the circle, everyone formed a conga line which I eventually got into and then I went back to talking to my friends by the back of the gym.

Overall I most likely wouldn’t want to go again since it was boring and the music was way too loud.

Mont Tremblant Ski Trip

Last weekend my family and I went on a ski trip to Mont Tremblant in Quebec to go skiing. After school last Thursday, I packed my last few things and got in the car. The car ride was long, but it wasn’t as long as the trip to PEI. We stopped two times on the trip, the first was a bathroom break and the second was to stop at McDonald’s for dinner.

The house we stayed at though was really nice. It had four floors and I got to stay on the top floor with a PS4 and a large couch. The day after we got there we went skiing. The skiing conditions were alright but the trees at the top were covered in snow and it looked really nice. The second day we went skiing again, but it was snowing, windy, and colder than the first day. I liked the first day of skiing better. After skiing, I played on the PS4 until I had to go to sleep.

On the way back to Richmond Hill we stopped in Ottawa for lunch at this Vietnamese restaurant. I had BBQ chicken with rice which was really good. Then we stopped at another restaurant for dinner and then went home.

January 2017 Winter Elective

Last Tuesday my school had our winter electives which were different activities we could choose online before hand. I chose to go skiing with a few of my other friends. Since I chose to go skiing, I had to wake up early because the ski resort is farther away than the rest of the electives. The bus ride was very loud, but it only took around an hour to get to the resort. When we arrived at Snow Valley (The place where we skied), I went up to the chalet to meet my mom and dad. I put on all of my ski equipment and then went outside to put on my skis. I took the stripe test to see which hills I could go on. The test is basically going down on a small hill and showing the ski resort how well you can turn and stop. I got a green stripe which meant I could only go on the green hills, but later I did a blue stripe test at 12:30pm and got my blue stripe, which meant I can go on both green and blue hills. Most of my friends were taking lessons so I mostly skied by myself, my brother, and my dad. I went back inside at around 1:20pm to pack my things up to get ready to go on the bus. We took the same bus back to the school. We arrived at the school at around when school ended (3:30pm). Overall I had a good time, but if I got to ski with my friends it would’ve been a better experience.

School Movie Day

Today the whole school watched a movie either in their classrooms or in the gym. The reason we got to watch a movie today is because earlier in the school year we raised money for the school and if we reached a certain amount of money we would get a reward like extended recess or a movie. Some classes watched a movie in their own classrooms, but most people went down to the gym in the afternoon at 2:00 to watch their movie. My class went down to the gym and watched the movie in the gym. The movie we watched was the Minions movie which I have watched before so it wasn’t very interesting. We also had to sit on the floor for the entire movie so it was also uncomfortable. The movie was alright since I’ve seen it before, but there were some weird Korean subtitles at the top. After the movie, all of the classes followed their teachers out of the gym. Most of my class went to the French room to see our marks from the last quiz we completed. After I saw my mark on the quiz (95%) I packed up all my things into my bag and exited the school.

Computer Mouse

I have recently been wanting to get a new mouse specifically a wired one with more than five buttons. The reason why is because the mouse I am using right now is wireless so I have to change the batteries quite a lot. It also has five buttons which are more than the standard three, but in games, I use both of them. I would also like to have more buttons to swap to different items instead of having to reach a different key on the keyboard. I decided I want do get the Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum because it has eleven buttons which are more than double of what I have right now, it is also a wired mouse with a weight tuning set if I want to change the weight of the mouse. The optical sensor is also supposedly really good as well since the mouse is designed for gaming. The mouse also includes an infinite scroll button which allows the scroll wheel to scroll freely when you scroll so you don’t have to manually scroll. RGB lighting is also included in the mouse so I can change the colour of the mouse if I wanted to.

I will most likely get this mouse soon and my reasons are listed above.

New Graphics Card

In the past week, I received my new graphics card which was an EVGA GTX 1060 SC. It cost $334.99 without tax. The card was able to improve my frames per second on all of my games and improve the graphics quality at the same time. In Counter Strike Global Offensive I can get between 200 – 250 frames per second at maximum graphics settings. In Rust a much more graphic intensive game I can run it at usually 60 frames per second, but sometimes it can drop to around 40. In Rainbow Six Siege I can also get an average of 60 frames per second on most maps but on some maps like Favelas one of the newer ones I only get around 40 frames.

Overall I am happy with my purchase because I can now play all of my games at maximum settings and still get playable frames per second. I would recommend this GPU to someone if you are looking for a graphics card that is good but aren’t looking to play too many high-end games.

Sony PlayStation VR (Virtual Reality)

While on our holiday vacation to Montreal our uncles had a Sony PlayStation VR headset which allows you to feel like you are part of the game you are playing like the DBoxes in movie theaters that have moving chairs and 3D glasses. Most of the games they had though were horror games. I tried one, but when I played or watch people play for a long time I got a little dizzy. The most fun part about the VR was probably watching uncle Danny play the VR because when he played the horror games his reactions were really funny. Whenever he played uncle Chris had to go behind the chair to make sure uncle Danny didn’t fall off or break the chair he was sitting in. The VR was a pretty cool experience, but I wouldn’t spend my own money getting one after I experienced it although it was cool I most likely wouldn’t use it too much since I get dizzy after a while. I also wouldn’t spend the money getting the PlayStation at all because I don’t like to play on consoles to often since I have my gaming PC now. Overall I had a good time being around the PlayStation VR, but I wouldn’t recommend it to people who might get dizzy playing with it.
